Ven

Fun Fact: The Island of Ven (Hven in Danish and old Swedish) is located in the sound between Sweden and Denmark. It is the place where the 16th-century Astronomer Tycho Brahe built his observatory Uraniborg, which can still be visited today. On 29 December 1566 at the age of 20, Tycho lost part of his nose in a sword duel with a fellow Danish nobleman. The two had drunkenly quarreled over who was the superior mathematician, they ended up resolving their feud with a duel in the dark. Though the two were later reconciled, the duel resulted in Tycho losing the bridge of his nose and gaining a broad scar across his forehead. He received the best possible care at the university and wore a prosthetic nose for the rest of his life. It was kept in place with paste or glue and said to be made of silver and gold.

Torekov

Fun fact: The old fishing village of Torekov became an exotic spot for quite exclusive tourism /”summer guests” during the mid/end of last century. Located at the beautiful rural peninsula Bjärehalvön. One of the significant spots in the harbour is the tiny museum “Skjulet” (The Shed), where name boards of shipwrecks are displayed. I used one of these name boards (Nordlyset) as the base for this Frog Wall. https://greater-copenhagen.net/skjulet-i-torekov/
